Why Should I Upgrade My UTV Axles?

Updated: Jun 7

ATVs and UTVs have grown in popularity over the past few decades, with more and more people getting into the hobby over the last few years. With more ATVs and UTVs on the trails, the need for aftermarket and high-quality replacement parts has never been greater. At GSP Latin America, we offer some of the market's best ATV/UTV axles. Today, we will look at why you should upgrade your UTV axles and how GSP is the solution.

How Strong Are Factory UTV Axles?

The factory axles in your UTV were designed to provide great reliability in mild to moderate off-road situations. As vehicles designed to be taken off-road, manufacturers built the components of these vehicles to withstand the abuse of off-roading adventures. However, many UTV owners like to push the limit of their vehicles when it comes to off-roading or trail riding. This can push the factory axles past that threshold and cause them to bend or snap, leaving you with an inoperable or barely drivable UTV.

How To Tell If Your Axles Need To Be Replaced

If you suspect that your axles need to be replaced, whether, from old age or damage, there are a few different symptoms you can be on the lookout for. Of course, on more open-frame vehicles, you may be able to see the axle. For those with inaccessible axles, look for these symptoms:

Wheel Is Not Rotating - The role of the axle is to transfer power from the engine to the wheels. If your axle has snapped, your wheel will not be able to spin on its own when pushing the accelerator. It will still be able to spin freely, just not under power.

Clunking Noises - A broken or bent axle will most likely cause clunking noises from your suspension. This is due to the axle rubbing or hitting against the frame or other components as you try to drive. This can also come from a failing joint in the axle.

Ride Feels Wobbly - This symptom will come from a bent axle rather than a broken one. A bent axle will not provide a solid, straight path for power to be transferred to the wheels, causing a wobbly or bumpy feeling coming from your suspension.
